“Any business or individual that invests in their community,
gains a sense of accomplishment where it really matters most.”
Dr. Andrew Kelson

Every member of Dental Horizons shares a deep appreciation for the communities that we serve across Longmont, Boulder and smaller connected towns. While we work on creating a healthy smile, we realize helping those in need creates a bigger reason to smile. These two ideas are inseparable. Our smiles come from helping you attain the joy of oral health and being an active member in our conglomerate community. Moreover, we encourage our colleagues, product providers, and patients to also take a proactive position in our community.

If you have something you are doing personally or your business is doing to support the community, please care to share. Please fill out this simple story submission sheet and attach any pictures in a reasonable quality digital format and e-mail it to us so we can consider posting it in our community section. Helping your community is great fun, highly satisfying and just one of those things that bring us all closer around things that matter.
Dental Horizons is building on its legacy as a quality oral health provider (started by Robert McCarty DDS & Andrew Kelson DDS) to help people establish a greater understanding of the risks and benefits that support most oral health decisions. There are many advances in healthcare that we review, recommend and advise patients regarding their options. While we live in a time-crunched society, some solutions deserve more consideration than the speed of the process as some providers promote. In many ways fast dental care is akin to fast food; not necessarily the best solution for your health. This web site is just one way we help our patients obtain proper information and gain real trust in us as their overall oral health consultant.

When we are really lucky, our sense of community affords us global connections. Dr. Kelson and two friends, upon hearing about some real challenges in Guatemala, decided to open a free clinic to help out the Guatemalan locals. “It was a real paradigm shift” according to Dr. Kelson acknowledging that just a few people can really impact the lives of so many. Students have easy access to books and magazines at Eagle Crest Elementary school, but in order to help them stay updated on current events, Dental Horizons has gifted subscriptions of the Longmont Times - Call newspaper. Students from Mrs. Dulmer's fifth grade class each wrote a thank you card expressing their appreciation for the gift of information.
During the Christmas of 2008 every team member at Dental Horizons contributed personal funds to the OUR Center in Longmont. Rather than have a traditional gift exchange, they decided to donate the funds that would have been spent on the Christmas party to those with a greater need. Since 1986, the Outreach United Resource Center, Inc., "OUR Center", has worked to meet its mission: "We help people in the St. Vrain Region move toward self-sufficiency by unifying community resources". We strongly recommend this organization and the satisfaction that comes with supporting them. To find out more visit www.ourcenter.org...
Dr. Kelson beams with pride as he talks about his own personal experience as a Boy Scout and … as a Girl Scout. Dr. Kelson was an Eagle Scout and he enjoys participating in scouting to help young men to grow up and become men of character with high moral and community standards. Scouting helps to give young people the tools and confidence to be leaders in the world. Dr. Kelson also worked for the Girl Scouts in Columbus, Ohio developing training materials using desktop publishing skills during the summer of dental school.
