In July of 2011, the Dental Horizons Team participated in the 2011 Oral Cancer Walk in Louisville. The fundraising event was a 5K walk/run intended to raise awareness of Oral Cancer. Free oral cancer screenings, oral health information, and various products were provided to participants to promote oral health. In addition, the event brought in several great and truly motivational speakers to talk about their experience with oral cancer and to provide key information on the disease. Though a lesser known cancer, oral cancer is considered very dangerous as its symptoms often go unnoticed until later stages of the disease when it is less treatable. Through educated awareness and growing advocacy efforts, there is greater hope for future victims. Our team is proud to support these efforts and we look forward to participating in the event again next year.
