Sealants

A sealant is a way to seal the tooth from cavity causing bacteria that can lodge itself on the surface of the tooth. It acts as a barrier, protecting the enamel from these plaques and acids. Many have thought, “aren’t sealants just for kids?” While the likelihood of developing pit and fissure decay begins early in life, adults can benefit from this treatment as well. The treatment only takes a few minutes. An acid is applied to roughen the surface of the tooth, and then the sealant is bonded to the enamel to for the protective layer. This is a great way to add protection to your oral health and add to the best possible cure...prevention!
